Amputation System of Care (ASoC)

Amputation Facilities

Amputation System of Care (ASoC) is a program that provides a comprehensive, integrated network of specialized facilities and services for veterans with amputations. 

Facilities Components for ASoC

Regional Amputation Centers (RACs)
These are the highest level of specialized centers, offering the most complex cases comprehensive, holistic, and interdisciplinary rehabilitation care. 

Polytrauma Amputation Network Sites (PANS):
These provide a full range of clinical and prosthetic services, along with inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, within local VA networks. 

Amputation Care Teams (ACTs):
These teams provide regular follow-up care and address ongoing needs with a dedicated interdisciplinary team and may not have full prosthetic capabilities or inpatient services. 

Amputation Points of Contact (APOCs):
Located at smaller facilities, APOCs serve as a consultation point for patients but do not have the resources to provide full rehabilitative or prosthetic care.

Regional Amputation Centers - provide the highest level of specialized expertise in clinical care and prosthetic technology, as well as rehabilitation for the most complex patients.
