Polytrauma/Amputation Network Sites(PANS)

There are 18 Polytrauma/Amputation Network Sites (PANS). PANS provide inpatient and outpatient amputation rehabilitation as well as prosthetic labs closer to the Veteran’s home. PANS can address the long-term care and care coordination needs and provide access to specialized services either directly or through consultation within a reasonable geographic distance of a Veteran’s home.

PANS interdisciplinary teams coordinate life-long rehabilitation services for Veterans and Servicemembers as they progress from the acute care setting to their home environments. To meet these needs, the interdisciplinary clinical teams at each PANS are well versed in evaluation techniques, rehabilitation methods, and prescription of prostheses. They provide a full range of clinical and ancillary services, serve as a resource for other VA medical facilities within their Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), and act as consultants for complex management issues associated with amputation care.
