Assistive Technology Education

Education Modules

Welcome to the Assistive Technology Education Module Section

Our aim is to continue developing and expanding assistive technology educational resources to VA clinical personnel. This includes materials to prepare for the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS), and Rehabilitation Engineering Technologist (RET) certifications.

These Grand Rounds are recorded, closed-captioned, and archived for later viewing as needed at www.rstce.pitt.edu for you to access along with a host of other webinars related to AT.

AT Grand Round Webinars

The Grand Round webinars have been developed for the purpose of educating clinicians in different aspects of assistive technology. Follow the link for the full list of material, or see below for the most recent additions to the list.

33rd International Seating Symposium Webinars

During the 2017 International Seating Symposium, more than 30 presentations were recorded. They are available to view on the RSTCE website.

Any webinar with the "33rd ISS" badge next to it was recorded at the 2017 event in Nashville, TN.

AT CERT Course

The Assistive Technology CERT course is a 9-month training program that combines online modules, group case studies, and conference-call recitations. It provides individuals with a comprehensive understanding of assistive technology (AT) and how it can be applied to your field of practice.

The course concludes with a two-day, in-person "Deep Dive" event where participants can put their knowledge into practice.

The course also assists in preparation for the RESNA Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and Seating & Mobility Specialist (SMS) certification exams.

The course runs annually from August to May. Applications for the 2017-2018 course are now closed. Please click here for more information.

Assistive Technology Deep Dives

The University of Pittsburgh's Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology collaborates with various VA clinics to host AT "Deep Dive" events. These in-person, hands-on training events are a great way to practice using assistive technology and ask questions of subject matter experts.

Follow the link above for details on past Deep Dives and for information on upcoming events.

RESNA Exam Review Course

This 8-hour (0.8 CEU) online course is designed for Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers, Clinicians, and others preparing for the RESNA ATP Generalist Exam. The material is entirely online and can be completed at your own pace.
